Triumph Lower Column Steering Bush Kit

A Lower steering column bush & thrust washer kit that is suitable for the Triumph Stag MkI & II ; years 1970-1977.

This kit has proved extremely popular so far with Triumph Stag owners & restorers alike and replaces the wearable parts in the lower end of the steering column and removes any play which may have occured.

The kit comprises of the following components :
2 No. Coated Thrust Washers ; 1 No. Coated Bush ; 1 No. Retaining Circlip ;
1 No. Tensioning Washer.

The parts in the kit are identical to the parts fitted originally in the factory but with two modifications. Firstly, the two thrust washers have a 50% increase in their surface area which will increase their working life given adequate greasing/lubrication. Secondly, there is a steel tensioning washer which will take up any 'play' in the existing components. This kit has been fitted to our own MkII Stag and it works perfectly.

The kit will require the existing Bearing Housing, Steel Spacer Washers and Sleeve to be retained/reused as these items are not included with the kit. The steering column will need to be removed from the car to fit these parts as access to the steering column whilst on the car is very limited if in situ.

The wear to these components can be severe, wear which is accelarated by water ingress and can result in MOT failure. This area is often neglected in servicing as was evident on our own Stag. Is yours ok? Ours wasn't!
